Charlie lectured at the University of Strathclyde
on how to conduct workplace noise assessments
and at Heriot-Watt University on noise-induced
hearing loss. He was an examiner on the Institute
of Acoustics’ Certificate of Competence
in Workplace Noise. This academic experience,
together with over 20 years experience in
conducting workplace noise assessments, mean
you will be hard pushed to get anyone better
qualified to carry yours out.
The Control
of Noise at Work Regulations 2005
This legislation stipulates what employers
must do to protect the hearing of their employers.
It replaced the Noise at Work Noise Regulations
1989 in April 2005. The current legislation
is stricter than the old and so, if you have
not had a workplace noise assessment carried
out since the new Regulations came into force,
it is time to do so!
Is My Factory
Noisy?
If your employees need to raise their voices
in order to carry out a conversation when
about 2m apart, you may be contravening the
Regulations, and you should have a workplace
noise assessment carried out.
