Sound Transmission Test Procedures
As specified in Part H of the Technical Standards of the Building Standards (Scotland) Regulations 2005, all measurements are carried out strictly in accordance with the Standards listed below.

British Standard BS EN ISO 140-4:1998. Acoustics – Measurement of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements – Part 4: Field measurements of airborne sound insulation between rooms.

British Standard BS EN ISO 140-7:1998. Acoustics – Measurement of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements – Part 7: Field measurements of impact sound insulation of floors.

Instruments
We use only Brüel & Kjær instruments. These are the “Rolls Royce” of acoustical instrumentation and give more accurate results than some of the meters used by our competitors. Accuracy can mean the difference between PASS and FAIL.

Personnel
Sound transmission measurements are carried out by Charlie Fleming or Peter Hubbard. Both Charlie and Peter have carried out hundreds of these measurements and so have a wealth of experience in this field.
